Bob Almond
Bob Almond began his career at Marvel Comics in 1992 as a professional inker on Warlock & the Infinity Watch. This eventually led to his most notable work as inker/storyteller with Christopher Priest and Sal Velluto on Marvel’s Black Panther from 1999-2002. This highly-acclaimed series earned Bob two Squiddy Awards for “Best Inker” along with one for “Best Creative Team”.
So significant was his work on Black Panther, that in 2018, Bob and his fellow Black Panther creative partners were invited to view the world premiere of motion picture where all three were credited with “Special Thanks” as Storytellers whose work influenced key elements in the film. This achievement occurred again with the sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022.
Some of Bob’s other notable work include: Heroes 911, Bloodshot, JSA, Aquaman, The Guardian Project with Stan Lee, the Kingstone Bible, Vampirella: Revelations, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Star Trek: The Last Generation.
Bob founded the Inkwell Awards in 2008; the only organization/advocacy of it’s kind that promotes and educates about the art form of inking and recognizes the best inkers in the industry. In 2011 Heroes Con hosted the Inkwell Awards ceremonies for 8 years followed by one year at The Great Philadelphia Comic Con. The non-profit celebrates their 15th anniversary in 2023.
In 2022 Bob began his contribution to The Masters for Power Comics inking Pat Broderick, Mike Lilly, and Tom Morgan.
